I like the new Quarterdeck
I had dinner at the new Quarterdeck tonight, where is located in Ocean Terminal. I love their window view by the water. Seriously, I do think their food is better than the Quarterdeck in Wanchai. The one in Wanchai you can enjoy outdoor sitting, but the view is very limited. Their view is almost occupied by the nearby reclamation construction site.
The Prawn Cocktail I had tonight, which make me think of the one I saw in the restaurant of Catalina Island in L.A.

Fun “FAIR”
I saw Merry-go-round and candy floss today in the trade fair. I guess the organiser did try their very best to make the trade fair more entertaining as the business is not easy these days. Trade fair has to be like Fun fair. There were not many visitors at all. There were eight different halls in this exhibition having over 3,000 booths but it wasn’t busy at all. I didn’t even spend much time on it so it wasn’t worth visiting.
The last time I saw Merry-go-round and candy floss was by Santa Monica Beach in L.A.^0^

Perfect?
I watched a family programme during lunch time. The presenter was discussing a topic related to today body slimming trend. The family education department of government reported the latest statistic that the 13 years old girls do complain themselves being over weight. Although, many of them are not fat, they do seriously think they are fat, and they need to be on diet. I am very surprise with this statistic. When I was 13, I had never thought of such problems though I am always thin. I do accept who I am. I had never heard from any of my friends who had such problems during our school period. How can be that fat as a 13 years old girl in HK? They are still children not exactly to the age of teenager. Eating healthy is necessary.
Their thought could be influenced by their parents, sisters, public media, and the non-stop promotion of those beauty companies. There are non-stop beauty and body slimming advertisements running every minute on Road Show of any public buses. Therefore, you can imagine how many people are watching it everyday. One day I was watching it while travelling by bus, there was an advertisement of a beauty company promoting their best price of body slimming. It said HKD2,999.00 for 7 days of slimming programme. They guarantee you will lose at least 10 pounds in 7 days with the support of real person interview on ads. Believe it or not? No, I don’t! First of all, I don’t believe in the medicine they suggest people taking to lose weight. I can’t see the good way of it. You may have side effects 1 year later though you maybe perfectly fine after taking it for few months. Who knows what happen next? I truly believe healthy diet plan will lead you to look the way you want to be together with sufficient support of exercises. You create your own look and image, not created by others what they think you should look. Those advertisements do always try to create the perfect image in woman’s mind and tell them that they should look like that; otherwise, they are considered overweight and ugly. Be honest, if all women who can have very beautiful faces with very slim figures as 36″, 19″ 33″, then all of them can become stars. I always say no one is perfect. Some people do look very beautiful, they may not have good hearts. Some people do not have beautiful faces, but they do have very good personality. All these can be true. I used to have a female friend who did have a thought of doing plastic surgery. After she told me her idea, I totally corrected her thought though she didn’t agree. As a woman, plastic surgery is kind of mean I do think so personally. Let say, you are not happy with your nose, and then you change it with a better one. So where is the original nose given by your parents? You were born with the features of your parents included noses, ears, mouths, hands and bodies etc. These all come from the nature of how we were born. When you complain about your bodies, it means you complain about your parents; as you are not happy with what they gave it to you. Even though, a woman got all these fixed, it doesn’t mean she is perfect. Perfect can be a very wide topic, not just outlook; personality and character do count.
Hope this body slimming trend will be over sooner or later, and then it will give no more influences to children. Children learn from adults, and their children will also learn from them. It’s a bad circulation, and never stops.
4 commentsMan of history
It’s a magnificent event. More than 1,000 of Napoleon’s fans went to Jena, Germany for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Jena by re-acting the whole battle. Jena was one of the most famous Napoleon’s victories areas in Europe. The Battle of Jena is as a symbol of European unity.
Napoleon’s fans came from 17 countries to take part in the spectacle. An American actor, Mark Schneider, played the role of Napoleon. I did watch the series he played about history of Napoleon as well as love story between Napoleon and Josephine. Any of you must know famous wine and dessert also named as Napoleon, so I truly believe this event will be continued and never changed. Love story of Napoleon and Josephine is indeed romantic.

No more Chinglish Beijing said…
Well, gradually all these will be improved. The standard will be up to international level after Olympic 2008 as long as everyone is willing to follow. The public behaviour is also critical. China government does lately announce new rules against the inappropriate personal behaviour of general public such as no spitting, essential queue up habit, no smoking in non-smoking areas, and prohibiting the dumping of rubbish on the ground etc…
2 commentsAwesome baby sites
I have been browsing around, and found this site, luckyjuju, from Kokochi, which is awesome. Those baby pictures are so cute. I like sites like that as they make you feel warm. You can see love of parents, and the happiness of how kids bring to a family. Just too lovely!!
4 commentsIt has been long time……..
It has been very long since I had my last Indian dinner. It was more than two years ago I would say. The dinner was nice. Indian spice is not very spicy compared with Thai and Chinese spice. Their food taste is rather rich, I can only have it once in a long while. I used to have lots of Indian food when I was in the UK as Indian restaurants, Take Away and food stores are very common and popular in there. You can even buy homemade Indian food from the supermarkets such as Marks & Spencers and Tesco.

Madam Butterfly
Ahhhh What a beatiful butterfly flying in our house today! I haven’t seen butterfly for ages. It’s hard to see butterfly flying around inside a house in HK.
My Dad was so happy when he saw it. He asked me not to kill it. I said “How can I?” He said let it free, so he rescued it again. He caught it with hands lightly, and free it in our balcony. Many say you can’t kill butterfly as it represents the good spirit or good luck to bring in your house. It just means good if you happen to have a butterfly flying around inside your house. Well, it’s true or not, I don’t know but certainly it’s difficult to see such beautiful butterfly in HK apart from Hong Kong park in Central and the countryside area.
It makes me think of a movie called Madam Butterfly which I saw long time ago. The madam wasn’t a woman though who was a man, for those who has seen this movie then you would know.

Double Tenth
“I always stand firm against corruption and that no one was above the law, including myself and my family….”
Chen Shui Bin said it today in his public speech on Taiwanese National Day.
How can he say that?
Today is Double Tenth, (October 10th) the National Day of Taiwan. Over two millions of Taiwanese demand Chen to quit his presidency during today’s protest. When people are still protesting against his corruption activities, but he can still speak up, and protect himself without senses.
A 90 years old lady was interviewed on TV. She stated she will wear the full red costume until the day Chen steps down. Many stores were closed today as the owners allowed their employees to join the protest. Food stalls gave away free food and drinks for the support of protestors. What you can see on TV is how the red party tried to mess up the event that Chen organised for National Day.
Taiwanese are very brave in my eyes. They have courage to voice up what their want, and not easy to give up. This is how I experienced and saw the people I met in Taiwan the past five years. They have been through so many difficulties regardless of political issues or economical issues, therefore I wouldn’t be surprise their aggressive attitude towards the latest protest against Chen. Chen definitely won’t step down easily, but if he did; the next candidate would be another issue for the current situation……
