Congratulation! President Obama!

Barack Obama! The real American dream!

I have been watching the live election news for the whole morning. I am so happy that Obama won. I am not an American, but this election is the most amazing political event I have ever seen. This is an important moment not just for the U.S. but for the world. Barack Obama’s victory will give people a new opportunity to look at the U.S. and see its changes.

November 4, 2008 marks the end of the longest presidential campaign season in the U.S. history — 21 months. Barack Obama changed the American history, he is the first African American president. Congratulation!! His background story is the real American dream in eyes of outsiders. He represents the new thinking, the new direction and the new goal. He has ability to change the international image of the U.S. and to change the perception of how people think of the U.S. in Europe and Asia. His attitude made me think of that he is one of those political idols in the revolutionary age of history. I adore him!

I am very sorry that Obama’s grandmother couldn’t hold on one more day to see the grandson she raised to become president of the U.S. The winning speech of Obama was excellent. I love it! It was so touching, not only expressing the victory of his battle but the glory of his race. He is indeed a passionate performer. He is charismatic. He believes his grandmother is watching him. She feels proud of him. Barack Obama is indeed the second person who gives political speech I love after Tony Blair.

America is a country with different races. Colour was a matter of the fact that people did concern in the election that I read a lot from various American politics researches. Obama’s victory shows that the boundaries of races in the U.S. politics have dissolved. A black man defeated the establishment candidate in a primary white state and the fact of a record turnout of Democrat voters suggests that Americans are seeing the need for fundamental changes. Obama is addressing issues facing mainstream America, not just the civil concerns. The U.S. economy is not in good shape. Americans are disappointed with the establishment politics, unemployment rate, financial crisis, high taxes, the medical welfare and the current presidency. The whole world is enough with the wars, and disappointed with the worldwide stock market crashed that caused by the Wall Street firm bankruptcy and mortgage-backed securities. Obama is seen as a solution. Hope that he leads the U.S. well, and he can really change the world as he said in his campaign. Becomes the real hero!!

I guess the coming Thanksgiving would become the most thankful day of America after such long presidential campaign….

For the time being, we all still need to watch Bush walking around on T.V. from time to time until January 20, 2009….. LoL

Change the world in 12 hours…

I have been following the American election news and debates for months. I feel like watching the “global drama”. It’s not just an international presidential election in my eyes, but is the “live” drama of humanity. I guess this is what politics really mean.

Barack Obama can become the first African American president, while John McCain would be the oldest president elected to a first term. Regardless what the result is, it will become significant in the American history. Most of the Europeans do prefer Obama to be the president of the U.S. Asians do have the same opinions. Needless to say, Africans do share the same views of the majority.

We are all waiting to see if Obama can really change the world in 12 hours……I am dissappointed I have no more election news to follow after tomorrow… lol

Tearful speech

What a sad news I heard this morning! Grandmother of Obama died peacefully in her sleep that stated in the tearful speech of Obama today. What a tragic that happened right before the election day!

American Hockey Mum

I watched an interesting programme last night on our local channel. It’s a Chinese programme but it invited American election specialist to talk about the critical issue of the election. They explained the meaning of American Hockey Mum in Chinese. It’s pretty funny actually the way they explained.

American Hockey Mum -

Someone who is a housewife, mainly concentrating on her family, children and husband.

Someone who is lack of global view with short term opinion of international issues.

Someone sees Russia just her next door neighbour when she looks out from her window.

Someone doesn’t travel internationally, and only became a passport holder not long ago.

In fact, what American Hockey Mum all mean is to point out this is Sarah Palin. Her clothing expense became a big question in the election campaign, USD150,000.00? Pardon me! If McCain had any health problem during his presidency (if he is a President), Sarah Palin, a hockey mum, will become the person who replaces him for all the duties…….so your opinions? lol

This programme does give some insights of how outsiders think of the American election. The specialist stated that deep in mind of American do have a problem of accepting a Black man; becoming the President of the United States. Obama is now on the top list, but some might change their final vote at last the specialist addressed. Oh well…..the global economy is very much depending on the result of American election, and we are all waiting for it in 9 days……

Asian voters in American Presidential election

I have just watched an interesting programme on our local channel about the Asian voters in American Presidential election. They interviewed the Chinese voters who are election volunteers of Obama in Chicago. Most of them are Hong Kong Chinese American. They do support Obama. One of them explained that Chinese American do not have the same utility perception of Latin American and American Black on election issues. Most of Latin American and Black do vote for Obama, but Asian American do vote based on their own needs. Therefore, the Asian voters could make certain influences in the final votes.

Most of elderly Chinese American do have very low English standard that the programme highlighted. Many of them can’t do the election without the translators. I am very surprise about that. I guess those only are living in China town……

Presidential candidate selection in car wash

Choose your ideal candidate in car wash! This is pretty funny. I wonder if those people would really line up for their candidate they choose even though there was a long line. I doubt they would. :P

Banking crisis in Iceland

This is a shocking news. Iceland suspends trading on its stocks exchange for two days and took control of the country’s largest bank. Iceland is one of the world’s highest per-capita incomes countries, but the banks struggled to refinance the heavy debts under current global economic crisis. It’s hard to imagine they are facing the possibilities of “national bankruptcy”.

Germany also adopted the bailout, unveils 500 billion Euros to shore up the country’s financial system as part of a co-ordinated European bailout effort.

What I heard is all the intensive news from all over the world. I thought that problems of Chinese dairy product are already annoying, but now news of economic crisis is much worst. The global economic depression will last for long…..

Stock quake! Bailout called off

Dropping and dropping, crashing and crashing!!! The world economy is in crisis.

Totally no good news released this morning. The whole world is in confusion all the sudden. The Bailout plan called off. The European market is seriously crashing. Asian market sank in early trade after the U.S. House of Representatives failed to adopt a financial bailout plan, which triggered the largest point drop in U.S. market history. The Japanese market is the worst.

People do blame on Bush. Someone had been interviewed on our local news, and said “It’s Bush!!! It’s all Bush. Because of his credibility and political clout long gone among Democrats and lacking among Republicans.” Not only outsiders would give such comments, I believe most of the Americans had blamed their nation’s economic problems on “failed Bush economic policies.” Sorry Bush! You indeed become a VICTIM of being blamed on everything. Regardless, the bailout plan is totally involved with the election issues and the internal breakdown of Republicans. If the bailout plan did go through, then it may not be a good news for the American taxpayers. It’s hard to make a good balance with a winning proposal that makes everyone happy.

Well, no more news until Thursday……Everyone looked so sad on the news. We worry that the unemployment rate would be raised in the coming few months. The banks may not handle the pressure, and cause bankrupt, etc. etc. It does sound horrible.

The first presidental debate of McCain and Obama

I have just watched the first presidential candidate debate of McCain and Obama. It seems that they both were not strongly against eachother, but brought the argument slowly according to the way they responded to each question.

Who would handle the economy better? 58% of people stated Obama is better, and 38% for McCain. The person who is always very much keen on fighting in the war..how he can handle better economy? The war of Iraq is a long term battle in Bush’s eyes. Regardless how much benefit Bush thinks that the U.S. will gain from the war, inevitably huge cost needs to be paid in advance. Bush must sits back right now, and waits for the next President to take care of what he had done. He is no longer to be responsible for it. The next President of the U.S. will definitely have tough time to handle all the unnecessary events that Bush had ever done. McCain sounds like still sharing the same thought and dream with Bush. lol

McCain said:

“…..the next president will have to decide when and how to leave Iraq and what the United States will leave behind.

The Republican candidate said that the war had been badly managed at the beginning but that the United States was now winning, thanks to a  ‘great general and a strategy that succeeded’………We will come home with victory and glory.

Winning? I don’t understand why he thinks the U.S. was now winning.

1) The war caused the unnecessary death and casualties of people in Iraq. Those mostly are elderly, kids and women.

2) The war caused the economy going down. It also affects countries outside the U.S.

3) Unemployment rate is up to 7 years high in the U.S. Many can’t afford the medical insurance. People are paying high tax, so where has those money gone? The war!

4) The U.S. will leave lots behind no matter when and how to leave Iraq. Refugee is the huge issue. No victory and glory in this topic! Wake up! McCain! It’s the world disaster and tragedy. The war also causes unlimited poverty across the countries without helping hands.

McCain also stated that Afghanistan issue can also be done with the same winning strategy as in Iraq. It seems that he is very much into the war..and war…and war….

The whole world now is waiting for the decision of bailout. It could be reached by Sunday the news said.

I can’t wait to see the coming Friday debate of Vice President candidates. Lets see what Sarah Palin is going to say….
