Two months of wonderful time in the U.S.
I spent almost two months of wonderful time in the U.S. which I didn’t expect. It was a fruitful experience, not only for work but also for my personal life exposure. Travel becomes part of my life.
It seems that I will spend more time in the U.S. for the upcoming year. I need to learn how to drive!!

Black Friday
A day for Shopping!! Oh well, I already shopped enough in Miami, so I didn’t do much shopping in San Francisco. I didn’t find things particular bargain on Black Friday anyway.
We went to have a gorgeous seafood lunch in Swan Seafood Depot, which is a family run store located on Polk Street more than 30 years. It’s a well known place for raw oysters, and it’s unbelievable delicious.

We spent an hour for queue up….

Everyone sat by the counter with long queue behind their back. Many were so pleased to wait for hours and hours.

We had raw oysters and clams. Their clam chowder tasted strong flavour of clam. It’s very fresh.

The crab Louis salad is just too tasty to be true. I couldn’t resist their raw scallop.

We passed by China Town when we were in the cable car.

Lafayette
I quite love this town, Lafayette, where my cousin lives. It’s a small place with some country stores. There are many nice and small cafes around the area. I even found Trader Joes just right opposite my cousin’s house. I love this supermarket. They have so much to offer especially their organic juice, dark chocolate and pop corn!! I did quite a shopping in there for stuff I brought to Hong Kong.

Thanksgiving Day
It’s my first Thanksgiving in the U.S. I had never thought that I would spend Halloween and Thanksgiving in the U.S. but I did it in 2009. Things always happen without your expectation.
We went to Golden Bridge in the morning, and had a great Thanksgiving dinner in my cousin’s house in Lafayette at night. Husband of my cousin is a great cook. He cooked us a fantastic Thanksgiving meal. It was indeed a lovely Thanksgiving Day!!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

San Francisco
I left Miami today for San Francisco. It’s my first time to be in San Francisco. I intended to spend my Thanksgiving with my uncle and cousins, who live in Richmond and Lafayette. I haven’t met any of them more than ten years. Two of them I haven’t met for over twenty years.
2009 is the year that brought me so much opportunities for travelling…..

A day in Parkland
I went to visit a friend who live in Parkland. We went to the local Deli. It seems that I am very familiar with Deli now as I always have meals in Deli, and always go with the same person.
It was a nice day, a nice chat, a nice visit and nice weather. I enjoyed my day!

Unexpected coincidence
The world is just so small. Indeed! Indeed! One from Hong Kong! Two from Australia! We are totally from two different sides of the world, but we happened to meet up on Miami Beach for sunbath. How amazing!!
I didn’t expect that I would meet Colin and Norman in Miami. Colin came to the U.S. for business trip, but he flew down to Florida with Norman from Colorado for a short weekend break. They drove down from Fort Lauderdale to Miami today, so we met up. I didn’t expect that I would see them again so easy after they left Hong Kong six months ago. Of course! I didn’t expect that I would have sunbath with them on Miami Beach. What a surprise! What an unexpected coincidence!! I was so happy to see them especially we met in Miami. It’s just too special to be true.
Anyway….Thank you for the creator of Facebook! We found where we are through our status update on Facebook; therefore, we found eachother in the U.S.

Unexpected painful experiences!
Haha! I had never thought that I would visit dentist in the U.S. I had terrible toothache a day ago. It almost killed me. I had meeting the whole day in the office, but still hold on to it. I just didn’t want to quit from those meetings. Actually, I was stupid. I just made myself to suffer from the most horrible pain I had ever had. It was an old problem of that particular tooth, but it came back from time to time. Unfortunately, it came back during my time in Miami.
Our company driver drove me to see the dentist. He accompanied me for two hours. I had my tooth removed because the root of it cracked into four pieces inside the gum. Therefore, it brought me terrible pain. It also cost me quite a lot. It cost USD350.00 for the tooth removal without the local medical insurance. I did purchase the worldwide travel insurance, so it should cover part of it. However, it wasn’t that bad as I thought. I thought it would be up to USD800.00 in my case. My colleagues also said it cost much less than they expected as I am a total non resident here.
I was overdosed the next day in the office because the pain killer I took, which was too strong for me. My body couldn’t stop shaking all the sudden. I even had temperature. I took one capsule in every eight hours and took it for three times, but the pain killer was too much for my size and weight. My colleague called the dentist and asked why I had such problem. She explained that it seems like I was overdosed with the pain killer. It was my second experience in here. I was also overdosed with cough severe three weeks ago. It brought me very fast heart beat with a bit of temperature within 30 seconds after I had one tablespoon of severe. I took one tablespoon every four hours as instructed and only took twice, but the nurse said that it was too strong for my size and weight. Unbelievable! I had never had such problem in any places before regardless where I was.
What an unexpected “painful experiences”!!
