Slumdog Millionaire
I saw Slumdog Millionaire eventually as it just started on Thursday in H.K. It was a great movie with touching images and scenes but was also a movie that made me tear. It’s a mixture of a documentary and a story presenting in typical British style. Personally, I do feel the images are little bit similar to the scenes in Crash. What I mean is in graphical way. I felt so uncomfortable after I watched it. It’s a story to raise the world awareness of poverty in a country like India. The writer and the director are both very clever by the way they expressed and captured the story. I am not surprise that it won many prizes in Oscar because it tells the entire world what the real poverty means. Perhaps, many still don’t realise the seriousness of poverty issues still happening in some Asian countries. This movie does help to raise certain concern from more global charity organisations.
I haven’t been to India, but I could have a chance to visit because of my work. I do want to see the real scene of India though it could be something upsetting. I don’t only want to see the good side of the world, but also the bad, the worst and the ugly. I can realise how lucky I am to live in Hong Kong, was to study in overseas, and to work abroad. I am always satisfied with what I have, and cherished with all of them. Many business friends of mine had ever been to India and told me that they really couldn’t stand to see images of children beggars following them around for food and money. They just didn’t know what to do. They felt bad as they live in the countries with sufficient supplies of everything. I was begged by two children for food once I was in Dongguan, China. I really couldn’t see people suffered. I feel strongly moved. Well, I know many are also very rich In India, but those will be forever rich. For those who are beggars, their entire generations will be forever beggars.
I really love the background music. It sounds so dreamy. Well, I am originally interested in Indian culture, food, dance and costume, and of course Yoga, so I very much enjoyed the movie.
HKD6,000???
HKD6,000.00 for these, almost USD800.00!!….The original price was almost HKD10,000.00. I almost freaked out when my mum told me. They are very famous expensive Chinese medicine. It doesn’t even weight more than 500gm for what you see. My mum bought it especially for my status after my eye surgery. It’s just to maintain good health in long run. People can take it for health maintenance even though they are not ill. Many cancer patients do have positive effects on their health once they take it in long term, but it’s very expensive to have them everyday.

“Mum” made Chinese medicine
Something inspired me this afternoon. It’s my mum’s works.
Me: Mum, What’s it?
Mum: Don’t you remember you ever drank it?
Me: What???? Are you kidding me? When did you give me to drink such things?? I must be completely blind, though I was very “blind” in the past two months. (So people…be aware of what your parents offer you to drink/eat sometimes, it could be out of your imagination….hahhaha……especialy Chinese parents’ ideas)
My Goodness! She is making her own Chinese medicine. LoL (It’s some sort of flowers actually she picked in our neighbourhood)

Light of the dark
Does it look horrible?? I captured the image of May May at night, and it turned out like that…

Delicious high tea
I am in such good mood for some reasons. And it was a wonderful day so I went to have a wonderful afternoon tea set in Landmark. It’s a quite new cafe actually. Their cake set is perfect, and their Moca coffee is wonderful. Don’t miss it if you happened in H.K.!!

I just love her accent
Needless to say I always like Kate Winslet. And I love her accent, just so English, London attitude. Yes, I admit I really like the British accent. I still cannot try to say “can’t” in American way even when I was in the U.S. for work. I remember once I was talking to someone from food delivery service on phone. He couldn’t figure out what I was talking about. I seriously can’t pick up (or try to learn) American accent when I speak English. It’s hard to pick up American accent. Perhaps, I could pick up the accent if I did study in the U.S. for years. However, I doubt it. People of H.K. all learn the British pronounciation in our schools and that makes lots of difference. I picked up my British accent when I was in the U.K. I always love to learn how British actors speak in the movies, movie such as Shakespeare in Love. I had a meeting with an American vendor on Monday. He thought I was a BBC. He cannot tell my English with any Cantonese accent at all. I was surprise when he said that.
No commentsI love Penelope Cruz!! I just love her!!!
I love women artist, being characteristic, stylish, individual and sexy not just beautiful. Penelops Cruz is spectcular. She also looks great as a model of Mango. I love so much her acting in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, the real beautiful Spanish woman in my eyes.
I am currently watching this. It’s from CBS, but the link has gone which I can connect to my site. I guess CBS removed it.
No commentsI am a romantic poet
Funny!? I received a mind test from someone about the past life. I did it, and here is the result:
You are a Romantic Poet
You know how you’re kind of…you know…romantic? There’s a good reason for that. Long, long ago, you were a romantic poet – the kind that made all the ladies swoon with your sexy sonnets. Even if you’re not much of a poet now, you’ve still got a lot of creativity brewing in your soul. And you’ve got a strong ability to notice details and understand other people’s emotions. If you ever have writer’s block or just need some creative inspiration, try to harness some of that poet power in your soul’s past.
Hahha! So does it mean that if I am a man then I would have many women in my life. lol
Yes, I admit I am a romantic person, because this is my nature. I am honest with my love. I love to make another person happy by doing little things. And I don’t mind to give. And I dare to love without regret. One of the questions in the test is about if I did cry for a movie story. Oh yes! Dear! I do. I just did it.
I watched Forever Enthralled. It was directed by Kaige Chen. It’s a real story about a well known Beijing artist, Mei Lanfang in the old days. The story background is quite similar to Farewell My Concubine, which was also directed by Kaige Chen, but Mei Lanfang missed some spiritual elements that you found in Farewell My Concubine. Farewell My Concubine is not only emotional but also breath taking. It touches deep in your heart with every emotional scene and support of sensational music background. I did weep a lot when I watched it because it was so breath taking, and heart touching. Forever Enthralled doesn’t have strong emotional scene captured but it showed strong love connection between Mei Lanfang (Leon Lai) and Meng Xiaodong (Zhang Zhiyi) in a sensational manner though it was an affair. It was so true and spiritual though was a sad ending. Love is not necessary to have solid outcome as long as you everly truly love, not fake it.
It could be a movie to win awards in some international European film festivals, but doubt in the U.S. It’s not commercial enough. And it’s not entertaining. It’s a type of film that people might fall in sleep if they watched it in the cinemas.
However, I enjoyed it as it’s not just a real story, is also a story about love connection in spiritual way.
2 commentsHillary in China
Not long ago, husband of Hillary, Bill Clinton ever mentioned to the press, China should be assistance of the U.S. economy. Well, the high RMB rate indeed increased the difficulties of American importers. The global trade is not really in good shape, very bad actually.
I do like the new approach given by Hillary in her first major speech as secretary of state, she drew a clear line between the Obama’s adminsistration’s approach and that of the Bush White House, which viewed China more as a rival than a partner and kept relations fixed on economic matters like exchange rates. In the past, the Chinese human right issues were always on the top priority list that need to be discussed for such events run by the U.S. government. Situation changed. Asia had never been the first place on the itinerary of the past trips taken by new secretary of the U.S. The world is really changing. I am happy to see that.
All the countries have their own culture, and their own ways to deal with various political issues. Taiwanese and Chinese are actually from the same ancestor, but they don’t listen to eachother. They are still learning to discuss issues and resolve conflicts. It takes time. I do believe the U.S. and China can benefit from, and contribute to, eachother successes as long as all the terms and conditions are remained equal and mutual.
