I have fans
I am happy to receive the following mail this morning by the job agent person who wrote me. He is the American job agent. I believe he does very well of his job. He followed everything through even after I got my job. He did make sure if I did well in Miami when I was in there last December. He also called to check status of my head office periodically.
………I can tell you they are impressed and very happy with your performance and that you chose to join them.
My most recent conversation was with XXXX. I really didn’t expect
him to have any contact with you, he’ s a big fan of yours. In fact, he
contacted me, asking, “you brought Joyce Lee to us?”- acknowledging it,
he indicated that everyone was very appreciative of the qualilty, talent
and professionalism of the people I have been able to bring to that
organization.
Best regards,
I didn’t know that I have fans in work place.
I can’t believe that people are seriously impressed with my performance even talking about it while I am not there. I am delighted, and am very appreciated with the gratitude of everyone expressed on me.
Well, it means that I have to work very hard and achieve certain performance in order to receive such gratitude and encouragement. I don’t want to disppoint myself and also others who think positive about me.
My eye is still in recovering process. It does process so slow. I am glad that my director understands my situation very well after I told her I got a “no fly” temporary notice given by my doctor. Hopefully, I will be completely healed by March. I am already on many schedules and plannings but just can’t make it for the time being. I have meetings arranged next month or in March, both in Vietnam and Mainland. I also need to fly back to Miami. I am so eager to get myself fully recovered. Hope my doctor will cancel my “no fly” notice in my next visit.
No comments10 Things to do in 24 hours of different cities
I was reading these articles about 10 things to do in 24 hours of different cities. There is one about Hong Kong. They talked about Lin Heung Tea House. I have never been myself. I am curious if there would be any tourists to pay a visit for it.
2 commentsYear of Golden OX!
Yes, it’s the year of Golden OX!
It’s the year of working hard, having fun, eating great, enjoying life, gaining weights………I am talking about myself because I am an OX!!!
It’s also the year for my “personal health clearance”……..hahaha…I told myself that I went to the hospital for a total repair (anything needs to be repaired when is broken), so any negative problems should all be cleared up in the beginning of the year, and then there are no more issues coming up anymore……..I prefer to be self entertained during this period rather than self pity…^_^
All the best to you all for the YEAR OF GOLDEN OX!!
Here is a photo of the lion dance in my area this morning. New house is building in front of us again!! And a new dog from the opposite neighbour…

I lost my mileages
My goodness! How can it be? I just checked up with CX about my recent collected mileages, and found 5,300 miles missing. They missed to update the miles I flied from L.A to Miami, and from Miami to L.A. They asked me to fill out the mileage missing form that I could claim it back but I need to present my boarding pass of both journeys. I obviously threw them away a month ago. They told me that they would update the mileage automatically through computer for every journey passengers took. This is how they always do it anyway, but they missed to update this time. I asked if it was caused by the journey I took not by CX. They said there is nothing related to American Airline, so those mileages should be updated by CX. They told me that very likely they would reject my mileage claim application because I don’t have boarding pass for it. LoL I was complaining, anyway I will see how it goes. I am so concerned of such stuff.
I figured it out that I can get a round trip ticket redeemed to Japan from last journey. I can redeem a round trip ticket to London from mileages accumulation of three round trips – H.K. – Miami and Miami – H.K. I guess I should have more mileages collected as I still have some short trips to go around Asia. I must keep myself flying with CX and its partnership airlines then I can have more mileages accumulated. Haha! It sounds like I am so calculating, but well….it’s just the way to be practical, and that’s how wealth can be accumulated. This is what I learn from some successful people who I met in my life.
General mileages cannot be used for business class upgrade anymore unless you buy regular economic class/business class all the time. Those mileages can be used for upgrade purpose. Class upgrade is not so important to me (but I would like to have it sometimes anyhow
), so I prefer to have free tickets redeemed to fly to somewhere else for holiday.
I really can’t help to think where else I can go though I am still going through my recovering process. I did have a dream when I was a little kid. I would love to get a job that gets me to fly all the time, but it must be with some sorts of achievement and objectives therefore, I haven’t seriously thought of becoming an aircrew. It seems that my new job will make my dream come true one day……..
This is the photo from the last trip flying from L.A. to Hong Kong…

Curtis Stone was in Miami!
I just watched Take Home Chef by Curtis Stone. He was cooking some Central American dishes. The lady he cooked for, who spoke Spanish fluently. They were in Miami. Curtis Stone responded to the lady that he should pick up some Spanish before he got to Mimai. Haha! It really reminded me when I shopped in the supermarket there. I was glad that my driver was always around, so he asked anything for me when I tried to buy anything that I needed to ask.
Just wait! Once I am fully recovered, I will be there soon. Unfortunately, my Spanish learning and driving lesson will be postponed until probably after April I guess.
Talking about cooking, I seriously do think dishes of Curtis Stone are better than Jamie Oliver. Curtis Stone does have dishes of any kind, some are oriential, some are European, some are South American, some are South African, and some are AUSSI of course! It’s dynamic I would say.
No commentsobama! Obama! OBAMA!
Inside the compartment of Hong Kong MTR….
Father: What’s the name of the American president, son?
Son: Obama!
Father: What’s the name of the Taiwanese president?
Son: Obama!
Father: NO! Son, it’s Ma Ying Ja. How about the name of CEO of Hong Kong?
Son: OBAMA!! (Glad that our CEO wasn’t nearby otherwise he must be upset.
)
Hahaa everyone laughed……I was on my way to hospital yesterday, and heard that.
Even a few years old H.K. kid does learn about Obama. Awesome!
Okay! Don’t worry everyone! I will keep this short. My doctor did say I can work with computer as long as I take break from time to time.
The Presidential Inauguration does make my day. I love their dance in the Mid-Atlantic Ball and the Youth Ball. They look so delightful and very sweet indeed.
The dance scene is sooooooooo American. Well, of course it’s American. LoL You won’t see such scene in the rest of the world.
No commentsMy “blind” days
2008 wasn’t a great year for me. I lost two dogs in a year. I struck in the hospital, went through New Year Eve, and fortunately, I got out for my birthday. It made me almost forget I am already 35!! The only pay off of 2008 is my GREAT job. Economy isn’t good everywhere especially in the U.S., but I gained something great, and also in the U.S. Life is kind of fair for everyone. You gain some, and you lose some. No one is always the winner. Sometimes, you could be the loser. Time can tell.
Yes, I am 35, but strangely I feel great. Most of the women (almost all the women in the world) are scared of aging. I thought only Asian women do worry about telling people how old we are, but actually not. Few of my American female colleagues asked me how old I am. I answer right away I am 34, and almost 35. They said what? “You look like a little girl, we thought you are only in your mid 20s.” “Gosh! NO way I said.” I asked them back the same question. They responded “Oh! No, I got 2 kids, and I got 5 grandsons, etc, etc.” No straight answer. In fact, only few of my close western female friends do let me know their age, but usually new friends (wherever they are from) don’t want others to know their age. It’s like this is a scary topic to be mentioned. Age is just a number in my eyes. I am 35, 45, 55, 65,……if I had long life enough… let’s say 85…..it would be the same me. Your heart and mind make you to stay young. You feel old because you physiologically feel old. You feel old because you physically feel old. However, your mind and heart are not under such influences. You own mindset can control you inner sense of being truly happy. Happiness can make you to stay young, always young.
Okay! My eyes! My right eye still can’t see things. The process takes so slow. Sometimes, I do feel I am blind. I feel it when I am out. I actually can’t walk on my own. I can’t walk straight. I do lose balance to walk. I will go further right when I try to walk straight, because I can’t see things on my right side. I felt extremely tired when I went out for 2 hours. I have a patch on my right eye, and have contact lense on my left eye while I go out. I wear sunglasses for protection. The only time I went out is….when I needed to see the doctor, and once I needed to check up the new office location. It was killing me while I was visiting the new office location. It was extremely tiry seeing things in details with only one eye. I kept my right eye closed. However, my right eye was actually functioning while I tried to concentrate on using my left eye. This is why I got so tired. Anyway, the rest of time I stay at home, eating, sitting and sleeping most of the time. Well, yes I am working too.
I am still receiving many private mails for asking my status. Thank you indeed! I indeed need a speedy recovery as I need to fly. I might need to fly off to the U.S. again next month, and also to some other far east areas. At the moment, I can’t fly. I still have stiches inside my right eye actually.
Some of my friends responded my mails and asked me to stay away from computer and Blackberry during my recovery. Oh! Hey! Dear! I need to do something. It’s not very much “me” to take rest all the time. If I lived like that with purely rest, then it would be worst than death in my eyes. You can see why handicapped people are always struggling, and are active doing activities……it’s the way to be strong………Hopefully, my check up next week will be fine. I really want no more of eye drop. The eye drop now goes down to my throat, not my eye as my eye is too saturated with it. It doesn’t absorb the eye drop easily as I have five different types of them for 16 times a day. I had it for every single hour when I was in the hospital.
Year of Ox is coming. I am an OX!! It’s my year, and I firmly believe life will do good for me, and also for all of you. Thank you for reading!
5 commentsMy forever Bibi
Bibi died today at 6:02pm last year. It had been a year. I still love you Bibi…..
You are always my beloved dog! If you were still here, you would accompany me everyday during my recovering process. You are always my sweet heart! My love!

Thank you for caring!
Thank you for all of you who wrote me by mail lately. I am doing ok, not too bad, but still in recovering process. My doctor said it will take me another two weeks for the confirmation of my retinal if it was attached completely or not. I hope this process goes quicker. I have lots of things to do. I am still working actually.
My right eye was bleeding last Friday, which was on my birthday. It wasn’t a good feeling when you felt hurt physically and mentally. I was scared to death. I am the person who can’t see blood, but I saw blood falling down from my eye all the sudden. It’s bad to have such experience after all the good time I had in Miami. Life is really unpredictible. You are happy and healthy today, but you may experience something totally opposite tomorrow. Who knows? I hope no more operation for me in the rest of my life.
Anyway, I am glad that I did my operation in an urgent manner. I was late already for a week the doctor said. The operation took almost three hours. It wasn’t a small one for eyes. My problem was more than a retinal detachment. Some water got inside my cornea after the retinal was detached. It directly affected my vision. I was in critical situation actually, but the worst is I didn’t know when I was in Miami. I kept tearing in the last week before I left.
I am still the same person who has strong mind. I believe life will do good for someone who is with a true heart. I believe in Karama.
In the meantime, no driving lessons, no Spanish learning, no dancing, no yoga and just NO for almost everything! LOL
