American Hockey Mum
I watched an interesting programme last night on our local channel. It’s a Chinese programme but it invited American election specialist to talk about the critical issue of the election. They explained the meaning of American Hockey Mum in Chinese. It’s pretty funny actually the way they explained.
American Hockey Mum -
Someone who is a housewife, mainly concentrating on her family, children and husband.
Someone who is lack of global view with short term opinion of international issues.
Someone sees Russia just her next door neighbour when she looks out from her window.
Someone doesn’t travel internationally, and only became a passport holder not long ago.
In fact, what American Hockey Mum all mean is to point out this is Sarah Palin. Her clothing expense became a big question in the election campaign, USD150,000.00? Pardon me! If McCain had any health problem during his presidency (if he is a President), Sarah Palin, a hockey mum, will become the person who replaces him for all the duties…….so your opinions? lol
This programme does give some insights of how outsiders think of the American election. The specialist stated that deep in mind of American do have a problem of accepting a Black man; becoming the President of the United States. Obama is now on the top list, but some might change their final vote at last the specialist addressed. Oh well…..the global economy is very much depending on the result of American election, and we are all waiting for it in 9 days……
No commentsAsian voters in American Presidential election
I have just watched an interesting programme on our local channel about the Asian voters in American Presidential election. They interviewed the Chinese voters who are election volunteers of Obama in Chicago. Most of them are Hong Kong Chinese American. They do support Obama. One of them explained that Chinese American do not have the same utility perception of Latin American and American Black on election issues. Most of Latin American and Black do vote for Obama, but Asian American do vote based on their own needs. Therefore, the Asian voters could make certain influences in the final votes.
Most of elderly Chinese American do have very low English standard that the programme highlighted. Many of them can’t do the election without the translators. I am very surprise about that. I guess those only are living in China town……
No commentsPresidential candidate selection in car wash
Choose your ideal candidate in car wash! This is pretty funny. I wonder if those people would really line up for their candidate they choose even though there was a long line. I doubt they would. ![]()
Banking crisis in Iceland
This is a shocking news. Iceland suspends trading on its stocks exchange for two days and took control of the country’s largest bank. Iceland is one of the world’s highest per-capita incomes countries, but the banks struggled to refinance the heavy debts under current global economic crisis. It’s hard to imagine they are facing the possibilities of “national bankruptcy”.
Germany also adopted the bailout, unveils 500 billion Euros to shore up the country’s financial system as part of a co-ordinated European bailout effort.
What I heard is all the intensive news from all over the world. I thought that problems of Chinese dairy product are already annoying, but now news of economic crisis is much worst. The global economic depression will last for long…..

I heard many of such stories from Holocaust, but this one is indeed touching.
No commentsNational Day!
I had been to Shenzhen with friends today. We had nice lunch, but very unfortunate we had someone sat behind our table with his leg placing on top of his chair. Gosh! What a manner in a restaurant!

I found such a big bottle of coke in Walmart (2 Liter), which only costs HKD4.90, about USD0.60. Anyway, I wouldn’t buy anything eat or drink in Mainland these days due to all the food problems. I don’t want to die yet.
