Unbelievable!

I saw this street drama two days ago after I bought a laptop in Mongkok. The drama was acted in the most crowd area of central Mongkok at 5pm. A group of student played as students in the class being blamed and punished by a teacher. The one who played the role of teacher kept speaking loud the name of “The Best Education”, which is name of a local tuition school providing group tuition for students after their daily schools. They tried to present their strict teaching skills throughout the play. I can’t believe they would promote in such way as it looks like promotional activities run by Japanese and Taiwanese. I wonder if there were any parents who would send their children to their school. lol

I only went to group tuition once for three months before I did my O-Level exam. The course was run by YMCA. I only did O-Level English. The English teacher was good, who was well known in teaching O-Level English. I was poor in Mathematics I admitted that. Dear!! I am fine by calculating figure of $$ when I purchase something, and consider about profit and loss, but indeed I wasn’t good in those equations and formulas of Mathematics. My parents realised I wasn’t good in Mathematics, so they hired a personal tutor to teach me at home after school. I did have two different tutors in different levels of studies. They came twice or three times a week. Basically, they checked my daily Mathematics homework, and taught me again what I didn’t understand in the class. It was one hour every section. My sister was much better than me in studies. She had never had a personal tutor, and she was a personal tutor of other students. ^_^ She taught some kids individually after their daily schools. Some were from primary schools, and some were from secondary schools. You can see she was much better than me in studies.

Goodbye Vaio!

a.jpg

Eventually, I bought a new laptop. I think it’s a sensible choice. I have been using my sister’s computer for almost two weeks since my Vaio totally broke down. I sent it to Sony for inspection. They quoted me HKD4,000.00 for the following problems:

Constantly Hard or Optical Drive problem on hard disc

CD/DVD Drive mechanism problem

Intermittently power up, but no operation

Web cam got no picture, and function totally off

I decided to leave it. I could get it repaired with lower price in some small computer shops, but it might cause some hassles. They might have problem to deal with the hard disc if they couldn’t find the second hand Sony components. I just simply bought the new one.

I ended up buying ASUS S6F .I didn’t have a clue what I should buy. I have been looking at various brands for few weeks. I don’t buy Vaio again because there are too much hassles of having one. You always need to buy Sony accessories to go with your laptop once anything broken. Sony computer products are not technically compatible with other brands’ stuff. It just causes troubles. I have been looking at some models, which are small and practical, but at last I found S6F. ASUS is a well known Taiwanese computer manufacturer, and also produce computer parts for some major brands in the market. They are good at reasonable price and quality. S6F is actually a design winning model in 2006. It does looks so similar to one of the Vaio’s model in 2005, which surface was also covered by leather. Here you can see very good comparison of S6F with other same levels of laptops. I like the specification of S6F. If there was same specification on Vaio, it would cost double the price of what I paid. It’s just not worthy.

The packing is so fancy made of very good quality of paper. I will keep the box as it’s just too nice. I have never seen such good packing for a laptop. The laptop is light, but the packing is heavy. It was so heavy for me carrying it back home as altogether ended up over 5kgs. lol

So far I did try most of the functions, and everything works fine. The size and the weight are exactly the same as my previous Vaio.

7.jpgIt weights 1.4kgs. Window Vista is alright, but the start up is a bit slow. A little window always pops up, and askes you if you wanted to continue your action once you are installing something or just opening some programmes. You just can’t close that window. The function is not really essential I think. It keeps popping out every while unless you don’t open programmes often. Regardless what set up I do for this laptop, I need to have password set up for every single action. The Bluetooth mouse also required password set up. LoL I feel tired of installing softwares. I was installing and uninstalling many times of softwares while my previous laptop had problems. I think I am not good at it anymore. :P There are funny gadgets from Window Vista that appeared on desktop such as clock, currency, weather and meter measurement etc., but you can also take them off. The weather forecast was set in Redmond, WA. I can’t change it to other states of the U.S. There is no Asian weather forecast as well.

Well, I believe my new companion can be with me for another four years or even longer…..My Vaio totally broke down for once in four years…and is the only time….

Japan smallest wearable TV!!

It sounds like a strange idea. I doubt I would like to wear it around while I am walking. It might cause me having accidents on road. :P I also doubt I would like to watch TV programmes on such small screen. The idea is cool, but sometimes, it’s just not practical at all. It’s kind of meaningless. :P

You can see the video for demonstration.

Let it free…

I have never seen this insect before. It came in from our balcony. It’s quite big, but I didn’t kill it. My Grandma used to say not to kill insects if you are not sure those are good ones or not. It’s fine to kill cockroach, mosquito and fly, and any bad ones if you are sure. The best way is to leave it free, so I got this one out of our house with paper, and let it free. It fell on the orchid when I tried to get it fly away. Then it was climbing up and down on the orchid, and it fell on the floor again. When I was taking its photos, amazingly it stopped moving, and let me to take a close up for it. When I stopped taking photos, it moved again. It acts like human. After it fell on the floor from the orchid, it was walking towards my position while I was closing the balcony door. Once I closed the door, it stopped moving, and when I slightly opened the door, it moved again towards my position. It wanted to come in our house. It seems that this insect does have some sense like the way cartoon movie described the behaviour and movement of insects as a character. Anyway, I left it walking around in our balcony. After ten minutes later, I went out and saw that it was still climbing up and down in our balcony among plants. Haha…funny…I think it likes our house…

My Blueberry Nights

I would like to see this film, which is first English film directed by Wong Kai Wai, and played by Jude Law and Norah Jones. It’s nominated in Cannes Film Festival. It doesn’t have an official web site yet. It shows that Hong Kong Films are highly regarded in Europe. Many actresses and actors of HK are also very popular in Europe such as Maggie Cheung. Actresses and actors of Mainland seem to be more popular in Hollywood.

Our dinner…

I cooked these tonight….Steamed rice with dry scallop and stir fry Chinese cabbage with dry shrimps…

Steamed rice with dry scallop has been our major meal for years. My Mum cooked this for me since I was a kid. And now it’s my term to cook for her.

A cat called “China”

I read this news on Chinese newspaper this morning. A cat got inside the cargo container, and being shipped to the US from Shanghai. The whole journey took 35 days. This cat survived through these days without food and water. It is very amazing. We always say cats do have “nine lives” in Chinese. It means cats don’t die easily. It seems really true though. The vet said cats can live without food for 3 or 4 weeks, but can only live without water for few days. Surprisingly, this cat has very strong liver that it can survive without water for 35 days. The colleague of goods owner will adopt the cat once the cat has been released after body examination for 6 months in pet protection centre. This cat is already named “China” by its new master.

My handmade necklace

Lately I am very much into doing handmade accessories. I did many, but mainly for work purpose. I did this one specially for myself. It’s made of fresh water pearls and silver sterling ornaments.
