The Painted Veil
I feel so satisfied today as I watched a good movie. The Painted Veil
It was a romantic film, though the ending was quite upsetting. The scene was very beautiful, and the story background was actually taken in Guangxi, China. I thought it was a typical “English Patient” kind of story, but it wasn’t. It was about how an English married couple went through all the barriers between eachother while they faced hardship and the fear of cholera in the cholera-infested region, China during 20s. They finally understood eachother by travelling through all the hard time together. That’s what the tagline says – Sometimes the greatest journey is the distance between two people. I love the acting of Edward Norton. He acted so well, though was in the similar way as how he acted in Illusionist. I also like the way they took the Chinese side of story, which is very different from the past Asian stories taken by western viewers. They took it in very factual way.
I would like to read this story from the original book as I knew the film only tells story of the first part of the book.
When you watch a good movie, you will naturally feel spiritually satisfied. Oh well, this is how I feel…

What are you doing kid?
Haha! I found this cute doll on our TV this morning. I don’t know where it is from, but I guess it’s from my Dad’s travelling souvenir. I can’t help to take few shots for it. He looks like he is really thinking of something. He did make me smile though I was feeling sick.

Yunnan Stories
Worth reading blog about life experience in Yunnan. There are great photos of Yunnan school scene.
Indian Bollywood
The Indian film industry is the largest in the world In terms of the number of films produced annually. Movie tickets in India are among the cheapest in the world. Bollywood is the informal name given to the film indutsry in India. Bollywood comes from the word of Bombay and Hollywood. There is a research about why Bollywood movies are so popular, and why the local is always satisfied with what Bollywood produces. These are the reasons: Most of people in India are living under poor condition of life, so their living standard is limited. Movies are their major entertainment. Bollywood movies are all major with singing and dancing, which are the important culture of India. Audiences are easy to be satisfied with the simple happiness as long as there are singing and dance scenes in the movies. Story background becomes less important. Bollywood dance is along with rhythm of Indian music. All actors and actresses must be good Bollywood dancers; otherwise, they are not suitable to be in any Bollywood movies. I am also a fan of Bollywood dance. I like the music rhythm and the way women dance. Their costume is wonderful. It’s very similar to belly dancing. Most of the Bollywood actresses are very beautiful. I am not surprise that many say Indian women are the most beautiful women in the world, because they really are.
Media always complains HK film industry is going down. Good actresses and good actors all have gone to overseas, and tried to succeed in Hollywood. The local production people are not doing good jobs. Some complain that HK audiences are too selective of types of movies we watch. Be honest, our movie story lines are very narrow; most are with gangster background. Some become popular lately because they are with Chinese history background, and supported with expensive decoration as well as fantastic costume. I guess the growth of movie industry is also very much related to the living standard of people in different places. We are not too demanding, but our local production is really not so interesting. The good production becomes less and less. Most of people like watching DVD movies at home, as there are not many good movies worth us buying tickets to see in the cinemas. A ticket costs HKD70.00 in general cinemas. It’s expensive when the movies are not so good.
No commentsTao Te Ching
I am lately interested in reading some simple theories of Tao Te Ching. It’s all about Chinese philosophy and moral. It has been translated into 250 Western languages. And….it’s too difficult for me reading it in classical Chinese I feel shame to say. I can only read it in English version on internet. My Chinese literature standard is not even up to secondary school. Dear!! LoL I am just being honest here.
I would like to share my favourite theories here….
Once whose needs are simple can fullfill them easily.
Material wealth does not enrich the spirit.
Victory in war is not glorious and not to be celebrated, but stem from devastation, and is to be mourned.
The harder one tries, the most resistance one creates for oneself.
The more one acts in harmony with the universe, the more one will achieve, with less effort.
Everything is in its own time and place.
The difference of opposite polarities – the difference between male and female, light and dark, strong and weak, helps us understand and appreciate the universe.
Knowing oneself is a virtue.
The more you go in search of an answer, the less you will understand.
Know when it’s time to stop. If you don’t know then stop when you are done.
More mistakes you make more chances you can improve yourself.
There are too many theories to discuss in here but these are very basic related to our daily life. One of these must exist in your life but you probably haven’t taken proper noticed of it. It relates to any subject matters that happened in our life experiences and helps us to tackle it through thinking. It does help. The one about the war, it’s good for Bush. lol

I have just watched a TV programme called Unfit Kids. It was a UK programme about how kids lose weight as life objective. All the kids of programme are over 200 pounds. They all are around 12 to 14. Their parents can’t do anything anymore about their weight problems. The programme trainer set up various outdoor activities for their participation such as running, hockey, and any kind of games that they can join to be active. Their daily meals were set as well as activities were well planned. A month later, some kids did have significant weight lose, but there were two having weight gained by 5 pounds and 10 pounds. They were so pissed off. They blamed the trainer to speak up their weights in front of camera. They complained that they were lack of enouragement by the trainer, so they ended up giving up themselves. Although, the trainer did have difficulties to begin with, he ended up helping them to get back on the right track. The programme will continue next week, but it seems that those two kids will lose certain weights in the end.
There is another programme on Chinese channel also about life and objective. That programme did make me weep as it was so touching. They invited guest presenters to share their past difficult time in their life along with the places they introduced in the programme as a background. They introduced India, Cambodia, Israel, Thailand, Egypt, and many many places. It wasn’t a complete travel programme but mainly introduced the value of local life related to family, love, health, religion, and wealth. Each presenter did go through hard time in one of those themes. They all turned their negative experiences into positive thinking. They all found the goals and support that encouraged by others or themselves. They all are mature adults, but are still learning and improving. We all need encouragements and support; however, the most important goal of life is how we face the difficulties, and how we solve it. There must be a way out unless you give up on yourself. In Chinese saying, “there are no ugly women in the world, but there are only lazy women around” It does actually mean that any difficulties can be solved unless you give up on yourself. (I don’t understand why it applies to women on the surface wordings! Maybe, it’s true that there are women too lazy to dress up, so they ended up looking ugly
) The most toughest part of life is how we face our true self. We do challenge ourselves from time to time and end up having hard time. Many things can be easily solved but sometimes we lock ourselves in the corner. The programme is all about these realities and discusses how to tackle them with various values and perceptions such as love, family power, and religion.
Be optimistic! Life is not easy but also not filled with failures. When we look back, we gained more than we lost. What we need is a little bit of courage! ^_^
So many flowers…
I woke up seeing so many flowers in our balcony this morning. This is all my Dad’s jobs. I doubt I can do such good gardening job as he does but sure I know how to take care of them well. You can’t imagine how many times my Dad reminds me of the best way taking care of his flowers while they go for holiday.

“Warming” already changing world…
We are now supposed in the transformation period between spring and summer, but I am feeling like in winter….

Everyone is on holiday in HK. 1/4 of people are out of HK in this holiday actually. My sister said it’s hard to have five days off included Ching Ming Festival and Easter holiday. Many people make it a long holiday by taking few days off before the holiday started. I saw so many interesting scenes in the morning yesterday while I walked with my dog. There were many people carrying suitcases, running around and trying to get taxis, but most of taxis were occupied. They looked like rushing to the airport, ferry station or any destination. People did look busier compared with usual workdays. Holiday can be very packed if you wanted to, but I prefer to be relaxed, and stay at home for chilling. I am very much into making bracelets and accessories lately, so I will continue to do more I think. ^_^
