Four Treasures of Chinese Scholar
I eventually tried the “Four Treasures of Chinese Scholar” in South Beauty tonight as I missed it in the last visit. Four Treasures of Chinese Scholar is the tool of traditional Chinese calligraphy. The following pictures show how they get this idea into dessert. Basically, they all are traditional Chinese sweets, but made in the form and shape of the calligraphy tool.

Chinese calligraphy was a mandatory subject when I was in primary school (1966-1972). Does Hong Kong school system still have this subject taught in primay schools?
How come the ink stick in your picture is not black in color? I thought Chinese ink is always black. Also, the “paper” of the four treasures should refer to the type of paper that a calligrapher writes on. The one in your picture looks like a wet paper towel for cleaning hands or brushes.
TT:
It’s a dessert! They just use the idea, form and shape of calligraphy, and create the dessert with traditional Chinese sweets.
Maybe, I didn’t explain well enough…sigh!
I am not sure if the schools do still teach kids about the calligraphy. I guess they still do but I also think the kids nowaday don’t do much as what we did in the past.

Then it means you should visit HK, and have as much as you can!
My apologies. You did explain well. I just didn’t pay attention to what you wrote about South Beauty in the past. I now recall that it is a restaurant.
