Double Tenth

“I always stand firm against corruption and that no one was above the law, including myself and my family….”

Chen Shui Bin said it today in his public speech on Taiwanese National Day.
How can he say that?

Today is Double Tenth, (October 10th) the National Day of Taiwan. Over two millions of Taiwanese demand Chen to quit his presidency during today’s protest. When people are still protesting against his corruption activities, but he can still speak up, and protect himself without senses.

A 90 years old lady was interviewed on TV. She stated she will wear the full red costume until the day Chen steps down. Many stores were closed today as the owners allowed their employees to join the protest. Food stalls gave away free food and drinks for the support of protestors. What you can see on TV is how the red party tried to mess up the event that Chen organised for National Day.

Taiwanese are very brave in my eyes. They have courage to voice up what their want, and not easy to give up. This is how I experienced and saw the people I met in Taiwan the past five years. They have been through so many difficulties regardless of political issues or economical issues, therefore I wouldn’t be surprise their aggressive attitude towards the latest protest against Chen. Chen definitely won’t step down easily, but if he did; the next candidate would be another issue for the current situation……
